MY STORY
--------------------------
Back in November 2022 I went for a routine blood test.I asked if I could get a PSA test for Prostate Cancer,Why?? - my brother in law and a friend both had PC.I had no symptoms whatsoever, none at all.
The next day I got a call from the Doc who said my PSA level should be around 3 but it was 59.
I then started my journey.I had CT, MRI and Full body scans ,and a biopsy, which told I had Prostate Cancer, but contained to my prostate.
January 2023 I started with 21 days of tablets, then had hormone injections every 3 months for the next couple of years. The injections stop the testosterone in my body as it feeds the cancer.
July 26th 2023 I went it to ARI with Jacqueline for my first zap of radiation,21 in all.It was a beautiful day and after the"zap" I said to Jaq,go book a nice hotel for September to celebrate the end of my treatment.
That nite, my soulmate, bestest ever friend,Jaq was rushed in to hospital and passed away the next day.I was devastated,my heart and Life had been ripped out of me.🥲❤️
Some weeks later I continued my treatment and finished on the 11th September 23,all traces of cancer had been zapped. Thanks to the girls in the radiology department,Sandra at front desk and Jacqueline Ogg,all of them knew my story,
After the treatment I went to the Maggie's centre, where they had a PC meeting every month, along with other guys who had this terrible disease. We had great chats and shared a lot with each other.
Big thanx to the girls there,Sandie and Mary, who helped me through the cancer and with the loss of Jacqueline.
Through Prostate Scotland, they organized a course at Pittodrie, every Wednesday for 12 weeks. There was about 16 of us,and we discussed PC for an hour, then had light exercise for another hour.Brilliant.-- few of the guys were from Maggie's,so it was good catching up with them.We formed a Whatsapp group and still keep in contact, and I have made new friends with these guy's,we have shared so much on this journey.
Thanks to the team of Nicola, Murray, Ronnie and Anne.
Special Thanks to Elaine at Prostate Scotland who made this all possible.
This Prostate Cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK.It doesn't care who it goes for.Guys get it checked out, wives, partners, encourage that guy in your life to do it.
It saved my Life, which is so valuable.
Its been a tough couple of years on this journey by myself, but all of the people above, and family and friends have got me through this.
Life is for Living,go enjoy today as if it's your last.
Thanks to All for your donations
