Channel challenge · 10 January 2016

Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation is the official charity of Brighton & Hove Albion. We help people to get active, learn new skills, and live well throughout Sussex. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or ability, can benefit from the transformative power of football.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

OK - I may have got you here under false pretences. I am going to be swimming the length of the English Channel, but I won't be doing it in a day, or in the Channel rather in my local pool over 12 weeks.

However, the Channel is 22 miles, so 1416 lengths and will be a real challenge for me (I reckon I swam about 50 lengths in total last year!).

The charity I'm doing this for is Albion in the Community (AITC), a great
charity I happen to work for.

AITC is the not-for-profit, charitable arm of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.

AITC use the power of football and the reach of the club to engage and inspire local people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. To help make sport accessible for all, tackle inequality, improve health and education, and provide opportunities.

I am proudest of our work with disabled children. I have witnessed kids being able to get involved in sport, where previously they had been totally sidelined, and the impact this has had on the rest of their lives, to be part of a team.

Every year, more than 30,000 people benefit from what we do, and last year we were named Best Football Community Scheme (non-Premier League).

My challenge starts on January 13th and I have to finish by April 6th. Any sponsorship would be very much appreciated.
