Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I can't quite believe it but...I am part of a six person relay team swimming the English Channel in July 2015. This is a real dream come true and I am very proud to be raising money for such a fantastic charity - Aspire.
I've done the 2 hour qualifying swim in rough, 13 degree C sea in Dover. So now I've proved myself worthy, it is really happening!
Each person in the relay team must swim for an hour at a time, in turn until we reach France. This could be in darkness, encountering jellyfish, in temperatures of around 14 C with only a swimming costume, hat and goggles. I'll be dodging 'flotsam and jetsam' in one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, with possible swells of two metres (I'm praying for a calm day).
You are unlikely to find me in the fast lane (unless by accident) and I have had to do lots of work over the winter, speeding up and improving my technique.
As a mum of two and a registered childminder, I want to be an active inspiration to the children I look after. It is partly my children who have prompted me to become sporty again after a few years as a couch potato.
Please help me raise money for Aspire by making a donation.
Every day the charity Aspire help people who have sustained a spinal cord injury move towards independence; people who will not walk again, people who can never again hold a pen are given practical help, guidance and support from their first days in hospital and throughout their lives. There is no government funding for this crucial work, and Aspire rely on your generosity to fund these services.
