Post brain tumour therapy

Sage Reading Half Marathon 2021 · 7 November 2021 ·
In April 2019 Oscar (then 9) was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He spent six weeks in St George’s, had four lots of major brain surgery, received round the clock nursing, and therapeutic support from a range of professionals who helped him relearn to walk, talk, and play cricket again!
He was lucky that he had access to incredible equipment to support his rehabilitation but it’s in short supply and in some areas could be better (anyone remember the drain held up by an elastic band?!). Funds raised will go direct to the teams that supported Oscar (and us) to survive and thrive through our “annus horribilis”. We are liaising with our new family (of nurses and therapists) at St George’s and purchases will hopefully include:
- additional physio equipment
- improved stands for IV drugs and CSF drains
- plants and paving for the “pineapple garden” that kept us sane in dark times
So many of you supported us so beautifully last year, so I feel a bit cheeky asking, but this is my chance to do something positive and raise some much needed cash whilst challenging myself to go outside my comfort zone... wish me luck!
Thank you for your support

Ps Oscar is also working back up to doing the Denbies Hilly 5km park run (last done the week before diagnosis) so if I don’t inspire you then hopefully he will!
