Story
Hey, I have just run the half marathon at Silverstone in 1hour 44 mins, in preparation for the San Diego Marathon.
I can’t express how much I need everyone to help me raise money for Dove House Hospice.
This hospice is where my uncle George spent the last period of his life before he sadly passed away. He was a great man who generously spent a vast majority of his time proudly taking me to tennis tournaments and giving me advice, usually through jokes, on how to win. He also occasionally gave my opponents tips too and said that “this would only help me get better” and after all “they are from Yorkshire too.” He had so much energy and passion in life and was always sociable and loved meeting new people. He never stopped learning and always shared his knowledge. He told stories for hours and always made people laugh.
Dove House Hospice was where my uncle could go on respite. When he became very sick from bowel cancer, which later spread, he stayed at Dove House Hospice and was looked after. All the staff who he had contact with where a great help and kept him cheery and positive, just how he had always been before he had a terminal illness.
Dove House Hospice only receives enough funding from the Health Authority to open 91 days of the year, the rest comes from donations. It costs almost £5million to maintain and develop services and stay open 24 hours a day for 365 days a year.
Please sponsor me so that we can help Dove House Hospice continue to do the great work it already does. I will be busting a gut training to do well in the marathon, all I ask is for you to give as much as you possibly can to make the event have meaning.
Love Sarah
