Running for WAY

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
In April 2025, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a special cause. This year I am raising money for Widowed and Young (WAY). WAY is the only national charity in the UK for people aged 50 or under when their partner died. It’s a peer-to-peer support group operating with a network of volunteers who have been bereaved at a young age themselves, so they understand exactly what other members are going through.
Most of you know my journey with Toby, but for those who don’t Toby had an autoimmune disease that eventually led to him needing a liver transplant. He made an excellent recovery in his first year post-transplant, however then things went downhill. He needed a second transplant but COVID then hit the hospitals and transplants were put on hold for the foreseeable. Sadly, Toby died during this wait and this is when WAY became my lifeline.
Losing your partner is incredibly tough and the grief never gets any easier. However, having such an important support network through WAY has helped me through the darkest and heaviest times. WAY has offered a great way to learn to live again after the trauma of losing Toby. It is an incredibly important charity so close to my heart and I know Toby would be so very grateful that it exists!
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
