Story
On the 18th November 2010, Sarah Snell, Sam Cross, Celia Bellamy and Harriet Snell will be venturing to Central America to take part in a challenging 7 day trek, to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.
The trek will take us through remote and rarely visited regions. This will include trekking through mountains and cloud forest, dense tropical rain forests and mangrove swamps. The terrain will be tough with some extremely hard climbs.
We will be trekking from 5 - 8 hours each day and camping in tents by night.(No hair straightners for a whole week!)
Children's hospice south west makes the most of short and precious lives across the south west. They provide care for Children with terminal illnesses that won't see adulthood. They also provide expert support and care for their parents and well siblings.
Despite the serious nature of their work the hospices are joyful places filled with love and laughter, showing that supporting the sick Children and their families can be fun and fulfilling.
They are the only organisation in their area to provide such care. With over 1000 life limited Children across the south west, their support for the Children and their families is vital.
At present there are 2 hospices, one is Little Bridge house in North Devon and the other is Charlton Farm near Bristol.
Fund are being raised for a third hospice which will be near St Austell in Cornwall. This is going to be called Little harbour and hopes to be open at the end of 2011.
