We Create wildflower habitats to help protect Britain's bumblebees

Story

As most of the team have never run a half marathon before, we decided that as a group it would be good to raise some money for a charity. We decided we wanted to target an environmental/animal focused charity and felt the Bumblebee Conservation Trust was the perfect fit!

Most people have an idea of the jobs that bees do, pollinate plants. But we didn't appreciate quite how important they are; approximately 1/3 of all food consumed (by humans and animals) is dependent on bee pollination and bees contribute £400 million per year to the UK economy through crop pollination along with maintaining many other wild plants.

Fortunately, with a charity like this, any donation goes a long way and makes a big impact. Since 1970, in the UK alone, bumblebee populations have reduced by 60% and some species are now becoming extinct so the little guys really need your help!

Any donation and support you can offer is greatly appreciated!

About the charity

Bumblebees are in decline because of a loss of their habitats. Our landscape is changing, over 97% of the UK's grasslands have been lost in the past 70 years. We work to put much needed flowers back into the countryside to benefit our bumblebees and other wildlife.
