Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. First the headline of a recent article in the Daily Telegraph:
"From epic views and heroic porters to frozen water bottles and throbbing headaches, triathlete Jonny Brownlee details his recent trek to the summit of Africa’s highest mountain"
So, the reigning Olympic triathlon bronze medallist discovered that climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is no picnic. We hope that demonstrates that mere mortals like us will have to put in a lot of work and effort to even try to get up the mountain - so please donate!!! We will be funding the entire trip - from planes to porters to permits - ourselves so EVERY PENNY you donate will go directly to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Why does the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust deserve some of your hard-earned? To put it simply (which is difficult as they do so much) : Pioneers in the rescue & hand-rearing of orphaned infant elephants and rhinos, the DSWT operates Anti-Poaching, Mobile Vet & Aerial Surveillance Teams.
Did you know?
- 1 elephant is killed in Africa every 15 minutes for its ivory
- Elephants share the same emotions and cognitive behavior as humans. They grieve for their lost loved ones, they feel fear, joy and empathy and are highly praised for their intelligence.
- Communities across Africa are dependent on elephants for an income through tourism. Saving the elephants also means preventing poverty, sustaining livelihoods and promoting sustainable tourism.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
