Sea To Sea for C&C

Sea To Sea for C&C · 9 July 2015
Hello, I'm Peter Egerton – most people know me as Pete. Since 2009, I've had Ulcerative Colitis (UC) which is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects over 260,000 people in the UK every day.
In 2010, I was hospitalised for a week with UC and since then I've valued the help and support of Crohns and Colitis UK, a charity for people with IBD. The condition doesn't go away and although I have bad days, currently the symptoms are few and far between. However there are many who do suffer more regular flare-ups and their days are a battle with constant trips to the toilet, abdominal pains, tiredness and weight loss. In severe cases, surgery is the only option to gain some sense of normality.
I feel incredibly fortunate for the help I've received and wanted to give something back. Here’s where a cunning plan formulated in my head…Whilst in a period of remission, rather than have a traditional stag-do, I deemed it a good idea to raise funds for Crohns and Colitis UK by getting a group of friends to cycle coast to coast, at total of around 140 miles.
