Story

It's Global Running Day on Wednesday 3rd June.

So together I hope the Secret London Runs community will join me in trying to run (or walk) 1000 miles collectively between Sunday 31st May and Wednesday 3rd June.

If you can, I'd love you to donate (suggested amount £4). But we totally understand if you can't at the moment and would still love you to get involved with the challenge.

We have walkers and injured runners in our community - so we welcome walked miles as part of our total. And you can run or walk as many times as you like over those 4 days.

Once you've completed your miles, please post about it in the Secret London Runs Connect Facebook group or just email hello@secretlondonruns.com and we'll keep the group updated on totals, with the final push on Global Running Day.

We've chosen Freedom from Fistula because they support and cure women who have been isolated for decades in some parts of the world. These women have endured prolonged childbirth, which, without the proper medical treatment, caused them to lose their baby and left them with an obstetric fistula. This condition means they're incontinent and their communities see them as dirty and shun them.  At this time, we're struggling to be isolated from our friends, family and loved ones for a matter of weeks and it's really got me thinking about the millions of women suffering, not just from this painful and avoidable condition, but with complete isolation as well.

I hope you'll help me support the amazing work Freedom from Fistula do to prevent and cure obstetric fistula, and I hope this challenge might give you some motivation to get in a few extra miles. Can we manage £1000 for 1000 miles?

Thank you for reading,
Vanessa (Founder - Secret London Runs)
