Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.

I haven't raised any funds for a charity for nearly two years. The last time was raising money for Oxfam by entering the famous TrailWalker. I challenged myself to walk non stop for 62 miles across the South Downs. I injured my knee towards the end so I was unable to continue. It took nearly three months for the knee to be sorted. It's always bugged me that I didn't finish.

I've decided to go that one step further. I am not a fan of running or getting dirty. The only dirt I enjoy is motorcycle oil at the race track.

I will find this incredibly hard. I'll be pushing myself well over my normal boundaries.

The course is over 20 miles. The Rat Race will have over 200 obstacles. This will most likely break me! (read full details below)

It will be worth every minute if I can raise £1000 for the Charity 'Children with Cancer'. No child (or anyone) should have to suffer with cancer. Please sponsor me, it's a cause that's totally worth it.

Here are the details from the site

"Dirty Weekend is quite simply the World’s biggest assault course. The Full Mucker course will consist of about 200 obstacles over 20+ differently-themed zones. The Half Mucker will feature around 150 obstacles over 15 zones. What sets this event apart is the scale of the thing. Its length makes this a serious run in its own right, but the number of obstacles make it a punishing day out par excellence.

You may know about mud runs, obstacle races and the like. You may have done some of our own, or others out in the scene. They range from 5k – 10 miles and may have 10 – 20 obstacles. They may even have 50. Dirty Weekend is not one of those events. It is peppered with content over 20 miles.  What really makes the difference is the fact that some of the obstacles built are permanent or semi-permanent. This means that some of the structures you will encounter will be truly gargantuan – bigger by far than anything you may have witnessed in any other event. And some of these beasts are true record-breakers, sanctioned for World record attempts.

Not everything is massive in scale though. Simple structures and natural features also complement the set-piece builds and the variety of Dirty Weekend is one of its real hallmarks. We club obstacles into “zones,” of which there are 20+ in the Full Mucker, each with a different theme. Construction techniques vary, ranging from steel, to industrial, to wood, to agricultural, to plain bizarre! And don’t worry – it may be a brute but this course is designed to be do-able."
