Hull & East Yorkshire Medical Research Centre (Daisy Appeal) opened in 2008. The charity built the Jack Brignall PET-CT Scanning Centre in 2014. In 2024 we built a Molecular Imaging Research Centre to produce PET CT tracers. We are fundraising for a £3m digital scanner to help save more lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 1998 I had my first adult experience of seeing a close family member (my uncle) suffer a long battle against cancer.  Unfortunately this wasn’t my last experience and sadly over the years one has now become seven.  I became aware of the Daisy Appeal, www.daisyappeal.org, a local charity that provides wonderful work not only to fight against cancer but also heart disease and dementia, through my running club Fit mums and Friends.  Too many people’s lives like my uncles are affected by these diseases.  Therefore, I would like to support this charity in their continued work to fight against them.  Please join me, any donation is greatly appreciated.

I’m so lucky to have gained a place in the 2014 London Marathon!  I feel privileged to be able to take part in such an amazing event and use my running passion to help raise money for such a wonderful local charity to help people like my Uncle.

Thanks go to Sam and my running club Fitmums and Friends who have not only provided this fantastic opportunity but also the support, coaching and guidance to reach this point over the last 3 years.  Special thanks to Coach Mike who supported me in my journey to the 6 mile group and who continues to be an inspiration and support to all club members even through his difficult time of illness.  Thank you also to Coach Neil for his support through runs and his hill/grass track sessions.  My friends and family have been a great support, special thanks to my hubby for looking after the kids so I can run!, Sue for her constant support on runs over the last few years and to Tanya for keeping me company on the long runs, in all weathers and who has put up with my moaning during them!

I’m nearly there now with my training and it’s been a wet and blustery time!!  The longest run is done but not forgotten!!  The tapering has begun J  I’m looking forward to my ultimate challenge and to supporting such a fantastic local charity.

Many thanks for your support – Michelle x
