The Challenge: Sign Solutions will be participating in this year’s Wolf Run. ‘Wolf Running’ is a unique combination of road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs. The only Wild Run in the UK, it is a hardcore 10k run across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud.

The Charity: Deafway is our chosen charity, and is based in the UK and overseas. Deafway aim to give Deaf People equal access to every part of life. They do this through Residential Support and Rehabilitation; Education and Training; Deaf/Sign Language Arts; Deaf Culture Projects; Deaf Heritage Projects; and the provision of Deaf Spaces.

The Project: Sign Solutions is seeking to support the continued building of residential accommodation at the Shreejana School for Deaf children in Pokhara, Nepal.

To build the first floor of the school, the team used a total of 24,821 bricks, costing a total of £5,460.62.

In 2000, Sean and Karen Nicholson joined with others on “Deafway's first fundraising trek” to Nepal. It was in Nepal that they met many members of the Deaf community in Pokhara.

The aim of the trek was to provide funding for some UK projects, but also 50% of the funds to assist in the completion of the School, as well as build accommodation for the ‘not so local’ Deaf children.

The school now, 14 years later, has approximately 245 pupils, of which 175 board at the school.   Deafway work tirelessly to ensure provisions are in place to provide the best access for Deaf children.

The Impact: The funds raised from the WOLF RUN will go towards building the first floor of the accommodation block. Your contribution will have a life changing impact on the lives of Deaf children studying at the school.
