We believe the death penalty is disproportionately imposed on the most vulnerable in society, violating their right to due process and equal justice before the law. Our aims are to provide better access to justice and to raise awareness of potential abuses of defendants' rights.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving team page.

We are each walking/running/cycling 5km a day for 28 days for Amicus. As of today, there are still 28 states in the US which retain the death penalty despite its disproportionate use on the most vulnerable groups in society. Each day will be dedicated to raising awareness of a different state whilst also highlighting more specific issues inherent in the system such as poverty, mental health, race and innocence.

Amicus is a small legal charity, and our fundraising allows them to continue their vital work including the US placement programme, casework projects, training sessions and raising awareness about the injustices on Death Row. Their aims are to provide better access to justice and to highlight potential abuses of defendant's rights. They need our help now more than ever!
