In memory of Simon Peat

A fund in memory of Simon Peat, a wonderful caring husband, father, son, grandson, and a good friend to all who knew him.
Simon died in Coventry Myton Hospice on Saturday 17th November 2012, after being diagnosed with cancer in October 2011. He was a true inspiration throughout his illness, never once complaining and always worrying about others. This strength has helped me and given me the determination to try and continue to enjoy life and make new memories for myself and our boys, and to make Simon proud.
He was only in Myton for two days, but the care and attention Simon and his family received was amazing and really helped us all. After Simon's death as a family we received brilliant support and counselling which was a huge benefit at such an emotional time.
This fund will repay some of their kindness, and help them to support future patients and their families. Mytons website writes" At Myton we believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life and that treating patients with dignity and respect is more important than meeting targets. We passionately believe that the final part of someone’s life is as important as the beginning. We also know that making someone feel better is not just about medicine – sometimes holding someone’s hand or taking the time to listen to their fears makes the greatest difference – if someone you love was dying isn’t that what you would want for them?"
