Story

Hi,

This is part 1 of a 2 part effort to raise some money for charity. At the end I'll have no hair left.

I'm running a Half Marathon at the Great Scottish Run this year and I'm kindly requesting a small amount of your hard earned money to contribute towards and maintain what I view as an incredible charity called RASAC Perth and Kinross.

RASAC stands for Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre and this small group of females put in so many hard hours, be it voluntary or otherwise to aid and support victims of Rape and Sexual Abuse.  They also work endlessly within schools and community groups to educate children and young adults on the dangers of sexual violence, consent regulations and much more.

Gender-based violence is any act of violence ‘that is directed against a woman because she is a woman or that affects women disproportionately’ (UN Secretary General Report (2006). RASAC P&K recognise that Sexual Violence is both a cause and consequence of gender inequality in our society. RASAC P&K aim to challenge society’s tolerance of sexual violence against women and provide services run by women for women. RASAC P&K offers women a safe women only space in which to receive support. They acknowledge survivors as the experts on what support they need and provide a range of methods of support which are aimed at empowering women to make their own choices and gain back control in their lives.

I strongly believe through both my understanding of society and having seen firsthand the amount of effort, compassion and dedication Angela puts into her work, that this charity is worthy of your donations  My running of a silly half marathon equates to an obscure fraction of the hard work they put in.

Please check out the RASAC website linked below and if you or indeed anyone you know has been affected by any of the themes held within it please call their hotline on 01738 630965.
