London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·
Hello !
When I was three years old I was diagnosed with ALL (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia) 19 years on I've made a full recovery and am now a paediatric nurse. I was inspired to follow a career in nursing by the lovely team that looked after me during my own treatment.
To celebrate this I am running the London Marathon for Bloodwise, a charity working to beat blood cancer since 1960. I first got involved with the charity in 2004 when my neighbour ran the London Marathon for Bloodwise, and was inspired to one day run it too.
Blood cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK with 38,000 people being diagnosed each year and sadly the 3rd biggest cause of cancer death. When I was unwell there was a 50% chance of survival, now thanks to research and personalised treatments 9/10 children survive from ALL. This still isn't good enough and we won't stop until we beat blood cancer.
Your contribution can really make a difference, and I am immensely grateful for your donations.Thank you.
