Virgin London Marathon 2016 · 24 April 2016 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

On April 24th 2016 I'll be running the London Marathon dressed in a giant Pink Lady apple costume. Aside from the obvious (well why wouldn't you want to run a marathon as a big apple?) I'm doing it to raise as much money as I can for the wonderful Stroke Association. If any of you remember my fat days, when I was 18 stone, you'll know this is a huge undertaking for me.

In March this year I lost my father to a sudden and unexpected stroke (that's him in my profile picture)but I've also lost a friend and other family members to stokes too so this cause couldn't be closer to my heart. I'd like to help raise as much money as I can so other people whose loved ones survive, get as much of that person back as possible.

I've done some half marathons, some Tough Mudders and some long charity walks but nothing on the scale of this challenge. I'll keep you as updated as I can along the way as I try to prepare to take on the apple.

I'm hoping to get my hands on the costume very soon so I'll be taking lots of pictures so you can see what I've got myself into.

I haven't been given a set target by the charity but after them giving me such an amazing opportunity I'd like to repay that kindness by at least raising £2,000.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, feel free to donate if you can.

Oh and a huge thank you to Pink Lady Apples for the opportunity.
