JORDAN's camping out in a village &working with kids who don't go to school

Living with Cambodian locals for 3 days · 1 June 2015
I had heard about the Freedom Heroes School before I came here and loved what they were doing but then when I came and visited the school for myself I was blown away by the impact the school was having and loved meeting the students who were so excited to be in school.
A lot of the government schools that the kids can attend don't teach English and in Siem Reap, learning English has massive benefits and means you are more likely to get a job in the city. Even a lot of adults in Cambodia are trying hard to learn English because it opens the doors to countless job opportunities. Freedom Heroes saw the need for a school in one of the villages here in Siem Reap where the kids can learn English from a young age for free, have vocational training, have an amazing community and have fun whilst learning. A lot of the kids can't go to government school because the schools are too far away for a lot of them and for the kids who can go to government school they are able to attend a morning or afternoon class at the Heroes school so they can still have the opportunity to learn English.
I have seen an incredible change in the students that attend the school here just over the last few months, they are more confident, they aren't as burdened with life, their English is better and every day they are excited to put on their uniform for another day at school! I've seen the change in these kids, I've seen the potential being realised and their gifting being encouraged and I want to see more children in school where they're not just given an education but a future!
The Freedom Heroes school is expanding so that more kids can attend, but to do so, it needs more money.
SO... to raise money for the school I am going to be spending time out in a fishing village where the kids don't go to school. I will be camping out in that village and documenting what life is like for these kids that have to work everyday in the heat, I will be helping these kids work and will hear some of their stories.
After camping out in the fishing village I will then be visiting Poumville village where the Heroes school is to hang out with some of the kids who are getting an education and to show the difference it makes.
I hope that documenting the contrast will encourage people to give so that children aren't having to spend their childhood working but are able to have an education as well.
Any amount of money you give will make a difference!!! Also 100% of the money you give goes to the Freedom Heroes projects, all of the UK based staff are volunteers so everything you give will go straight into the School.
Thank you for your support!
