We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

An Urban Family. Four beautiful, talented girls each with their own special quirks and traits. Denise - the wide-eyed, innocent red-head with the Latin-American blood, hysterical laughter and patience of an angel. Alexia - the achingly cool, petite and tempestuous globe trotter, always full of surprises and sound advice. Fiona - the Scottish slash Scandinavian “funny” drama queen with the glue gun to hold everyone together. And Sophia, the bull-in-a-china shop, full of life, vivacious blonde with an enormous love for life, and junk food! I guess you could call us goddesses.

We brought out the best in each other and were there through the thick and thin of university years and beyond… We graduated and life was tough without each other, but oh so cool. We were global sisters in all corners of the world. Denise was based in Rio, flying all over the world and planning a wedding and a move to New York . Alexia was doing the usual globetrotting from Brussels to Moscow to Geneva and London – dizzying! Fiona was making a name for herself in the language business in Sweden and captivating a particular Swedish babe. Sophia had skyrocketed herself into a glamorous, powerful job and had fallen in love with “the one”. Life was great. Nothing could stop us. I mean, this was the start of our lives and goddesses are invincible, aren’t they?!

Then one day the world stopped still. Sophia had been diagnosed with cervical cancer. A treatment plan was set up, then another and another. Nothing worked. Within eight months our fellow goddess and brightest of all stars was taken from us, her brilliant future cruelly snatched from under her feet. Sophia died at a mere 25 years of age on July 6th, 2006. There are no words to describe how this feels.

The fact is, though, that we are not alone in our loss. All too often, people die from cancer. Even the most fabulous of people with the perfect life, perfect friends, and perfect job loose their battles with cancer. It’s all around us.

It’s with this in mind that on May 12th 2007 we have decided to run the Gothenburg Half-Marathon, and we would like your support.

Wearing Sophia’s signature pink, we hope to raise awareness. Moreover, we would like to raise funds for Cancer Research so that one day a cure will be found. It is our hope that many shining stars can be saved. Please, please, please help us to raise money for Cancer Research. Follow the instructions below and please give generously! We appreciate your time and money!

Super thanks,

Fiona, Alexia and Denise (who 'conveniently' lives in New York and cannot make it over)    xxx
