*CANCER WE’RE COMING FOR YOU*
On 2nd September 2018, my stepmum sadly lost her long battle with secondary breast cancer- (bone cancer). A determined and successful international businesswoman, Linda gave up her career and life style in the Middle East to pursue a more aggressive form of chemotherapy back in the UK. The UK NHS however is, due to funding, currently unable to provide a drug called Perjeta- which increases the lifespan of those with secondary breast cancer. If this drug was readily available, I wouldn’t be writing this today...
Between March and October 2019 I will be completing 10 Half Marathons across the country; accompanied by my Dad in at least 2. My Dad ran the London Marathon 2018 , raising 2000 pounds for BCN and Linda was there to cheer him on at the finish line but sadly, she won’t be here to watch us finish this time. We want to continue fundraising for such a worthy cause; enhancing pioneering research and treatment and to help achieve a future without breast cancer.
Over 55,000 woman are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK . 11,500 of these women sadly lose their lives to this disease; with almost all of these deaths being attributable to secondary cancer- which remains incurable.
It seems silly to me not to use my love of running to raise awareness of breast cancer and fundraise towards a total cure for this horrid disease; but more specifically a cure for secondary breast cancer.
Any donation (no matter how small) is greatly appreciated for such an amazing charity.
LETS STAND UP TO CANCER; TOGETHER
