The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

Covid-19 has the world at a halt, meaning a lot of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.

In response, a new campaign to raise vital funds to help save the UK’s charities has been created and will run from 26th April (when the London Marathon would have taken place) to the 3rd May.

The #TwoPointSixChallenge is to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to Save the UK's Charities that are in need now more than ever.

SR2's 2.6 challenge to help raise money for Changes Bristol will have the team completing in the below challenges and activities throughout this week.

Steph Jackson, Chris Sheard & Jack Hollocks - running 26 kilometers
Rachel Rickard & Will Laing - cycling 26 miles
Charlotte Baker & Nathaniel Smith - 260 burpees in 26 mins
Natalie Sidwick - 26 x 1 minute planks
Elliott Burrows - 26 rep circuit of 26 exercises x 2.6 times
Steve Dalley & Marius Hurley Bennett - running 26 miles
Caitlin Sweny - climbing 2600ft in 2.6 hours
Sophie Edensor - live DJ set for 2.6hrs
Tom Longden - baking 26 cookies and delivering them to the Bristol Royal Infirmary
Alicia Teagle - 26 x 2.6 second headstands
Alex Dellow - 26 min non-stop boxing
Sam Miller - 2.6+ mile family cycle and 26 cupcakes baked for Avon Fire & Rescue Service

Changes Bristol, our current charity partner, is a grassroots mental health charity that has been providing peer support groups since 2004. Changes Bristol offers a support network which anyone can access. You don't need a GP referral, there are no waiting lists, and you can access the support for as long as you need it. In light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Changes are now offering online support groups which are a safe, confidential space for anyone to share what's on their mind and gain support from others.

The coronavirus crisis is having a devastating impact on people's mental health and Changes Bristol's services are needed more than ever. With a huge loss in their fundraising income, they need your help to meet the growing demand for their essential support services.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
