Story

Standing with Giants is a voluntary community project based in Oxfordshire, we make large scale remembrance installations by hand from recycled signage to honour our fallen. Here we are in 2023 returning to ‘normal’ life after a  Global Pandemic.  We have  3 installations on display this October/November 2023.  Visitors can walk freely among our installations which are designed to not only  look and feel impressively large, but as a safe space where people can come and reflect, to grieve, to discuss with children, to connect, to reset, and to look forward.

National Trust Stowe Gardens

We are honoured to  display  200 remembrance silhouettes commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-day in 2024 within the Gardens.  This moving statement of commemoration, remembrance and honour offers visitors space to reflect and connect within the natural landscape around Octagon Lake

The silhouettes  are also displayed in sleeping wood as a space for reflection. Visitors will  be able to see the display from 19th October – 14th November 2023.

Hampton Court Palace

We are privileged to be returning to Hampton Court Palace  for a third year this November displaying 100 life-size soldier silhouettes, and 25 Indian soldiers silhouettes as they famously camped at Hampton Court in 1902 for the coronation of Edward VII, and then again in 1919 ahead of the victory parade in London. Please check the HCP website for opening times and to book tickets between 1st November – 26th November 2023   www.hrp.org.uk

International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln

Standing with Giants has created this installation in collaboration with International Bomber Command Centre, and Military Artist, Simon Smith.

The installation is in recognition of the 80th anniversary, when 133 men from the 617 Squadron who took part in the famous Dambusters Raid on 16th May 1943, and in remembrance of the 53 men who sadly lost their lives.

To date, our installations have raised  £70,000+ for our chosen charity, The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

We are continuing to raise funds via Just Giving for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Our 2023 Just Giving fundraising appeal will start at £40,775.41  which was the closing amount raised via Just Giving from 2020/2021/2022.
