Story
Almost 6 years ago I was offered a 3-months internship at a top advertising agency back in my home country of Germany. Of course I accepted, and so I flew out to Frankfurt.
Half way through this experience, I was taken ill and after a few visits to a GP, Otorhinolaryngologist and finally a Neurologist, I was sent to hospital.
Before I even had a chance to call my parents back at home in the UK, I had a hollow needle wedged in between two bones of my spine and was told that this Lumbar Puncture would determine whether I would need to remain in hospital.
A few hours later and the results were in. Diagnosis: Viral Meningitis.
Within a matter of minutes I was moved to my own hospital room and put on a drip. Every day was as scary as the last, having MRI scans and EEG tests on a daily basis. But then, after 3 weeks, I was finally given the all clear and released from hospital.
I know not everybody's story has such a happy ending and some are no longer here to tell the tale, but this is exactly the reason why I have chosen to run for this charity. Not only is it very close to my heart, but to that of many people around me.
I have never run a half marathon before and am absolutely bricking it, but if I manage to raise my target funds, then that's one thing I can be proud of (even if I do end up crawling over the finish line on all fours).
Please give what you can and stay tuned for some creative fundraising ideas I have planned.
Thank you all xxx
