Story
There’s a first time for everything and this is my first ever London Marathon. First marathon actually; I’ve never run as far in my life before. However, I have always wanted to run a marathon, especially the London one and so I decided that 2008 is the year.
I’m running for a charity that is enormously close to my heart. My Auntie Sandra, Mum’s older sister, died in November 2005 of Alzheimer’s, her life cut tragically short at a desperately young age. That is the reason I have chosen to don the purple (hopefully not skin tight) running vest for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust in the hope that a cure will one day be found for this dreadful illness.
The London Marathon takes place on Sunday 13th April 2008 and if you are able to get down there, all support and cheers would be much appreciated. I will be the one in purple and there’s a good chance my cheeks will be rosy. Should be a doddle to spot me amongst the other 37,000 runners.
I hope to raise £4,000. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Any donations are very much appreciated and should help me get through the long and relentless training programme, as well as the big day itself which I am sure will be emotional and tough. As long as I get to the start line in one piece, I will do my best to make you all proud.
Many thanks,
Steph
