Event: The Ellen MacArthur Trust - West Wight Triathlon, on 20 September 2009
We inspire young people to believe in a brighter future

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Having read my email or facebook, you probably think I've gone bonkers by doing a Triathlon...

You're probably right, but it's for a good cause as the Ellen MacArthur Trust does 'good things', helping young people recovering from cancer regain their confidence through sailing. And it's given me a target to get fit and lose a lot of weight.

You can read about the Triathlon on www.westwight.co.uk/triathlon. It comprises a 600m swim, followed by a 35km cycle, and then (as if the previous two aren't enough) a 7.5km run.

I've been training since June (thanks to Kali Pearce, my personal trainer, and Fitness First gyms) and I'll be training even harder for the next few weeks, so I hope that I will be able to complete all three activities - but as far as sponsorship is concerned, please consider giving as much as you can and forgive me if I don't manage to complete the event - although I will try my hardest, and I'll be happy if I finish (last would be OK) . After all I am 50, and until recently was pretty fat and unfit - but at least I'm trying to rectify the last two.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Or if online isn't right for you, just send me a cheque made out to the charity please.

So please...dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust inspires young people aged 8-24 to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer. For many young people simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis just isn’t possible. So, when treatment ends the Trust’s work begins.
