Steve Mynard is on The Sarsen Trail

The Sarsen Trail · 4 May 2014 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Since I turned 50 in December 2013 one of my aims has been to walk further. In January 2014 I walked 16 miles along The Ridgeway and I plan to walk the rest of it before the end of the year. In February I walked 18 miles from Frome to Wells along the East Mendip Way. In March I walked 25 miles in one day around the downland of West Wiltshire. This reminded me just how precious the chalk downland environment of Southern England is and it also reminded me of a walk I did ten years ago from Avebury to Stonehenge.
That walk was organised by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) and it is called The Sarsen Trail. It is their biggest fundraising event of the year. This year I am walking it with them again and I am aiming to raise £100 for their work.
The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will use the money I raise in many ways to protect and conserve the landscape of Wiltshire. One of those ways will be to manage the downland they own by traditional sheep grazing. This form of management produces the close cropped turf that is home to a wide diversity of plant life, which in turn attracts rare and endangered butterflies such as the Adonis Blue.
And that is why I am walking from Avebury to Stonehenge on Sunday 4th May 2014.
Please give what you can.
