Anyone who knows me would confirm that I've been a bit of a sport 'nut' for most of my life, although I always looked at it with a view to self fulfilment and not much else. Having recently been introduced to road cycling by a close friend, I've discovered a new passion but with a difference - my drive is not a competitve one but rather one of achievement. As a resulf of this it seemed a perfect opportunity to try and make a small difference to a cause that I have a close affinity with, Willowbrook hospice, close to Whiston hospital in St.Helens. My father was expertly cared for there until his passing in 2006, and the passion and tenderness left me with a sense of utter gratitude. I know I'm not alone in this and can only hope that many more families will have the same support and guidance that these hospices provide.
