Well, it was a fantastic day! A big thanks to all of the Paul Hunter Foundation runners. We all completed the course and there are probably a few aching joints today (day after). A huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored us in this event. The camaraderie was marvellous amongst the team and the good wishes of the people of Sheffield was amazing! People spraying the runners with cold water on an energy sapping hot morning, offering sugar hits in the form of jelly babies etc to keep us going and so much support in boosting flagging legs.
I have to admit it was awful! But also brilliant! With three miles to go I started asking myself why I'd decided to run in this stupid race in the first place. With a mile to go I just wanted to stop and walk the rest but I dug deep and remembered why and who we were running for and I trudged over the line after 2hrs and 42 Minutes of non stop, albeit slow, running. OK! two small stops for natural breaks :)
10 minutes after the race I felt terrible and it was a definite "never again moment" but 1 hour later at our after run celebration party and we were already deciding how we could make it better next year! Gulp!
Once again thank you to you all for giving us the reason and inspiration to go out there and run our little hearts out!
