Lochaber Mountain Rescue team is Scotland's busiest team, often carrying out more than 150 rescues a year. Run entirely by volunteers we rely on your generous donations to allow us to help those in need.

Story

On the 28th of May this year, myself, members of Stuart’s family, friends and members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team will hike to lay a tribute at the spot where he sadly lost his life in the Aonach Mountains in Scotland.

We’ve set up this page if you’d like to support us and LMRT, who’s efforts in the search and recovery were beyond words.

An incredibly loving, kind and generous husband to Annette, father to Rebecca and Nicola and “Papa” to our son William, he is missed by so many people.

Stuart introduced me to the mountains a few years ago and his passion for climbing and exploring was infectious. From a young age he spent many a weekend scaling the many and varied peaks of Scotland and was a man of considerable experience. But it was not lack of experience, technique or consideration that took him, but a tragic freak accident whilst making his descent from the summit of the Munros he had just bagged.

Mountain Rescue Teams like Lochaber are staffed by volunteers. Volunteers that drop everything when the call comes to help those who need it.

If you can, please join us in gratitude and support for these incredible people. Unfortunately there was nothing that could have been done to save Stuart’s life that day, but with the right support the teams that put their own lives on the line to help those in need can continue to save others.

Thank you.
