Story
Hi, my name is Stuart Lee and I am raising money for the Brain and Spine Foundation by running in the Bupa Great North Run 2006.
There are 10 million people in the UK living with a neurological condition. They affect all ages and people may experience the onset of a neurological condition at any time in their lives.
The Brain and Spine Foundation is a national charity which aims to improve the quality of life for people with brain and spine conditions and to reduce neurological disability by providing a national focus for information, education and resources.
I know from personal experience what it is like to live with a brain condition having had hydrocephalus, more commonly known as water on the brain, since birth. I have a tennis ball sized brain cyst in my head which in early childhood and my teenage years caused me considerable pain through severe headaches and sickness.
I also had a brain tumour removed at the age of six and battled meningitis at the age of 12. All in all I have had 17 operations on my head and hospital has been my second home.
I feel I am lucky but for every one of me there are countless people who are not so lucky. Please donate whatever you can to help to maximise the quality of life for people with neurological conditions (such as strokes, brain tumours, MS and Parkinsons disease).
Thankyou
