Story

We know there is a lot of lockdown fundraising going on at the moment so thank you in advance for coming to our page.

STV is taking part in The 2.6 Challenge to raise money for Scottish children’s charities who have been devastated by the Coronavirus crisis.

Together the STV management team will be completing the equivalent of 26 ascents of Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, on a variety of lockdown-friendly staircases in the West of Scotland and London. That’s 35,000 metres of climbing, starting this Sunday 26th April and finishing…..er…..sometime after that.

Any amount you are able to donate would be hugely appreciated. Every penny raised will be distributed by the STV Children’s Appeal to a charity in Scotland that is helping children and their families fight poverty at this most difficult of times.

The STV Children’s Appeal x The 2.6 Challenge

Since 2011 the STV Children’s Appeal has raised over £21m to support Scottish charities helping the 1 in 4 Scottish children who still live in poverty. We have funded over 1300 projects, helping over 95,000 children and young people in every one of Scotland’s 32 local authorities. But every year we rely on mass participation events like the Glasgow Kiltwalk (which would have taken place this Sunday 26th April) to raise those funds, and this year that’s no longer possible, leaving charities across the country in a very vulnerable state. Since the start of the Coronavirus crisis, the STV Appeal has distributed over £1m in emergency funding to the children’s charities across Scotland who need it most, working in partnership with both the Scottish Government and the National Emergencies Trust. But we need to do more, and with your help we can.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with The 2.6 Challenge, with colleagues from right across STV participating in a range of challenges over the next few days. The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing and remember to stay local.

Thank you and take care
