Helping families of children with cerebral palsy in Wales by providing information on SDR surgery and aftercare to families and medical professionals. The charity also aims to provide funding to families in Wales for therapy required both pre and post surgery.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Support4SDR Wales supports families and children with Cerebral Palsy who are eligible for the specialist neurosurgery SDR.  My daughter Imogen had this surgery in America in 2012 and is now able to walk with a frame and get from the floor into her wheelchair and walker. See www.immyfindsherfeet.com for more info. This would never have been possible without SDR plus all the hard work she puts in training each week.  As well as the huge costs in time and effort, the financial costs of training (over and above what can be provided by the NHS) are high. We were hugely fortunate in that we far exceeded our fundraising target for the SDR itself and are now able to use the extra funds to help with these training costs. But many families struggle to fund the therapy/training and equipment needed.

£300, my fundraising goal, will pay most of the costs of a block of training sessions with a strength and conditioning coach, physiotherapist or personal trainer.  Our charity, Support4SDR Wales is raising funds to help with the costs of training blocks for children before and after SDR surgery. Visit www.support4SDRwales.org.uk for more details.
