Campaign by Cats Protection (RCN 203644 (England & Wales), SC037711 (Scotland))
As the world starts to open up again, here at Cats Protection we're bracing ourselves for more tough times, we don't know what's going to come through our doors. But we know that we will help every cat that does. Help us by supporting our appeal.

Story

Hello and welcome to Wrexham Adoption Centre’s Summer
Appeal.

This summer please try and help us raise £500 for vital care of pregnant queens and kittens in the area.

In the past year we’ve seen an increase in unneutered cats, in particular, females (queens) requiring Cats Protection’s assistance in rehoming.

The last year has been difficult for us all. It’s been especially hard for the pregnant queens that have found themselves homeless due to reasons such as their owners being made redundant or struggling with the cost of their care. We’ve seen an increase in requests to rehome pregnant queens, as an average household income has decreased substantially as a result of the pandemic.

As a result, we’ve doubled the number of pens we have assigned as our maternity unit to deal with this ever growing demand which has meant an increase in costs. As nursing queens, very young kittens and unvaccinated kittens are highly susceptible to diseases we need to have a controlled environment to prevent infection, where on entering each maternity pen, we are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). This is all disposable, to prevent cross-contamination and therefore a large additional cost for us to incur.

As the world starts to open up again, were bracing ourselves for more tough times. Many routine veterinary treatments and procedures had to be put on hold during lockdown and we will no doubt see many
more unneutered cats seeking our assistance. We will continue to be here for the queens and kittens and expect to become exceptionally busy as we carry on dealing with the impact of lockdown. We will likely
see litters of tiny, kittens whose parents are barely out of kittenhood
themselves and haven't been neutered.

Sadly, many people are struggling for financial, physical or mental health reasons due to the pandemic and as a result we will see many cats whose owners will come to us heartbroken, because they can no longer care for their beloved cat. Therefore the money raised above the target will go towards the care of other cats within the adoption centre.

Cats Protection Wrexham Adoption Centre will always be here for the cats but now we need your help. Your summer gift could save a life:
£10 can supply a queen with the kitten food she requires to build up her strength to feed her babies, £20 can buy a box of disposable gloves so that we can ensure we are wearing the appropriate PPE when health checking neonatal kittens £30 could provide antibiotics and painkillers for a litter of poorly kittens. Are you able to help the queens and kittens who come through our doors by supporting our appeal?

Thank you
