Sara & Mike's Summer of Challenges

Sara & Mike's summer of challenges · 29 March 2016
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As some of you will know, Mike and I have both had to witness family members going through various stages of Alzheimer's over the past couple of years and its something we wouldn't wish on anyone else. It's from this experience we decided we wanted 2016 to be the year we do our bit to try and stop Alzheimer's from taking over other peoples loved ones by raising money for the Alzheimer's society.
At present, 850,000 people in the UK live with dementia and this is predicted to rise to over 2 million in 2051 if nothing is done.. this is the entire population of Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham put together. Currently, there is no cure for dementia. Alzheimer's society not only funds research into this disease to help discover a cure but they also help people to deal with the onset of dementia and aim to help make life easier for not only the people affected but also their family and carers.
To try and help, in some small way, we are planning a summer of challenges to push our bodies to the limit in the hope it will inspire people to dig deep and donate what they can. The plan for the summer is;
- 18th/19th June - Climb the 3 peaks within 24 hours (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon)
- 3rd July - Run Southport Half Marathon
- 10th September - Complete the Cheshire Tough Mudder course
Your money will be greatly appreciated and will really make a difference to an individual or family dealing with the onset of dementia. No donation is too small and they really will all help when we're struggling with motivation training or completing challenges this summer!
Thank you so much for your support! See you at the finish lines!
