Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of keen mountain bikers who regularly ride after work and at weekends in the countryside of Berkshire and the surrounding Counties. 6 months ago we all thought racing around a purpose built course in the middle of the Malvern hills sounded like a good idea, now it's a few days away it seems a little daunting!

We are taking part in Moutain Mayhem: http://www.osmountainmayhem.co.uk/

We have formed two teams of four and will be racing from midday on Saturday the 18th of June to Midday on Sunday the 19th June in the grounds of Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury (http://www.eastnorcastle.com/).

Our chosen charity is The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) (http://www.jdrf.org.uk/) which exists to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications, and is the world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research.

Type 1 diabetes is caused by the immune system attacking the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas, meaning that the body cannot regulate blood-glucose levels on its own. Having type 1 diabetes requires constant balancing of diet, exercise and medication to maintain blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible.
