Story
On the 19th of June 2015 we found out my Dad had Non Small Cell Lung Cancer. To say the least we where all in shock. Dad took it calmly as he did with everything the rest of us panicked quietly staying strong for each other and our families.
Dad had 4 lots of chemotherapy the first 2 where ok then Doc's changed his chemo for a different one, the next 2 made Dad loose his hair so we shaved it off also his tast for everything including water so his appetite went down.
Doc's then suggest that Dad should have 5 consecutive sessions of radiotherapy which he did 1st was on 15th Oct the last was 20th oct and after each day he felt worse.
On Sunday 25th we had to call for an ambulance as Dad wasn't good his blood pressure was very low and his bloods weren't right and was admitted to hospital. His lung was filling up with fluid (blood) and had to have 3 blood transfusions He was there for a week before being transferred to The heart and lung Hospital in London on the 2nd Nov 15.
My mum and I want up there that evening to see dad on arrival we where told that Dad had just came out of Theatre having a operation on his lung and to glue his ribs together. We were told that he wouldn't make the night as he had lost so much fluid , we were devastated I rang my brother and family to tell them so they could come up but Dad did make the night by 10pm ish he was sitting up eating and drinking. He had 3 great days eating, drinking and talking with a drain in his lung. Everyday after that was a slow decline. We tried everything possible to get dad home.
On Wednesday 11th November mum rang me to say the hospital bed would be delivered that Friday we where so excited to get him home where he wanted to be mum and I went to the hospital that evening and told dad but he seemed quiet and tired mum rang my brother to say dad wasn't good. But my brothers was on his way up already.
Dad was having pains in his tummy so I rubbed his belly to ease the pain called the nurse for help and they called the doctor they took blood around 9pm from dad and told us that his organs are shutting down and had 12 to 24hrs
With that my mum , brother and I stayed at Dads bed side until he passed at 11.55 pm I can truly say it was heartbreaking
I Love you Dad and miss you everyday RIP
