Story
The Gambia is not only Africa's smallest nations; it is also one of the poorest. Adding to it's persistent economic problems, The Gambia has faced a number of natural disasters in recent years. In 2010, floods destroyed many homes and left thousands of Gambians homeless. As a result The Gambia has a very high proportion of orphans.
With this in mind we are creating a small neighbourhood of orphan homes. this will allow several orphan families to live together as a friendly, co operative community. the cost of £40,000 will construct one of the 10 homes in the Orphankind village.
One family will consist of 10 children in a house together and cared for by a foster mother, who is responsible for their physical and emotional needs. Each orphan home will provide all the facilities and comforts necessary for a healthy upbringing. The children will receive healthy meals and medical care, and will attend school with other children from the local community.
