Story

We all worry about the plight of endangered species but few of us would go to the extreme lengths that Brandon has to protect them.
Brandon, 10, has walked 100 miles along the South West Coast Path from Poole in Dorset to the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon, and by sponsoring him you will be supporting the World Wildlife Fund’s efforts to save animals at risk from extinction.
Those of you who have met Brandon, will know that he is no stranger to endurance (he recently climbed the Three Peaks ) but the physical demands of his latest challenge would rule it out for most adults, let alone children.
Combining the passions of two of his idols – Bear Grylls and David Attenborough – the route of Brandon’s gruelling trek saw him scale a total ascent equivalent to the height of Scafell Pike, Snowdon and two Ben Nevis climbs!
Brandon’s dad, former Royal Marine John Hiles, accompanied him on the adventure. They walked for 6 days to complete the challenge.
Walks spotting beavers in the River Otter during lockdown sparked Brandon’s interest in wildlife. He said: “I’ve watched lots of documentaries about animals and I found out that lots are becoming extinct - that is scary, so I wanted to do something to help as many of them as possible.”
Brandon would appreciate sponsorship of any amount to show your support.
