During December, while most of us are pulling on jumpers and warming our hands around mugs of tea, a group of brave fundraisers are stepping into icy lakes, rivers, and seas across Essex. Why? Because they believe no one should be left out in the cold this winter.

The 12 Dips of Christmas is more than just a chilly challenge—it’s a lifeline. Each dip represents the courage to face discomfort in solidarity with those who face far greater challenges every day: adults experiencing homelessness in Chelmsford and Essex. Imagine waking up not knowing where you’ll sleep that night. No hot shower. No warm meal. No safe place to call home. For many, this is a daily reality. But with every splash, every shiver, and every donation, our dippers are helping to change that.
