Story
For my 40th birthday year, I decided to take on a challenge that was far beyond my comfort zone. Having never run further than trying to catch the dog, I signed up for the Great North Run half marathon. Living in Newcastle at the time, I had watched family and friends cross the finish line, feeling inspired to join them in this incredible journey.
Now, just over a decade later and having moved to beautiful Cumbria, I find myself inspired once again—this time by friends who are passionate about outdoor swimming. With excitement and determination, I have committed to participating in the Great North Swim 2025, tackling the 1 mile event across the stunning Lake Windermere. This distance requires not only physical endurance but also mental resilience as I navigate the challenges of open water swimming.
I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for support in my endeavors. Your generous donations will be split between two vital causes: The British Red Cross Society and our local North Cumbria Pulmonary Fibrosis support group. The British Red Cross plays an essential role in providing care and assistance during times of need, while the pulmonary fibrosis group actively supports patients and their families living with this challenging condition.
Together, we can make a difference! My target is to raise £500 by June 13th, 2025. Every contribution counts and brings us one step closer to supporting those who need it most. Thank you for considering this opportunity to help others while encouraging me on this personal journey.
* update- if you donate via just giving the amount will go directly to the Red Cross.
If you wish to support the local pulmonary fibrosis group - please donate directly to me and I will forward and your donations directly. DM me and I will share my bank details. Alternatively cash may be handed to Virtual Ward Office at Wigton Hospital, Cross Lane, Wigton CA7 9DD or with North Cumbria Home Oxygen Service also based at Wigton Hospital.
Thank you in advance for your support.
