Raising money for Cancer Research UK and The Farming Community Network

Story

For those of you that don't know, I'm Michael, a Worcestershire farmer and Shearer for the local area.

I wanted to do something to help causes close to my heart and decided to challenge myself the best way possible and raise some much needed funds for my chosen charities.

With the help of Listers sponsorship, I’ll be attempting 24 hours shearing on 28th May 2023 to help raise money for Farming Community Network (FCN) and Cancer Research UK.

Now if you have never sheared a sheep before, this is not only an incredibly physical challenge, but a mental challenge too... after all, aren't we supposed to count sheep to go to sleep?

Well there will be no time to sleep as I will be provided with a constant supply of 60-100kg Texel Cross and North Country Mules to keep me going throughout the duration.

Whilst this will push me beyond my limit, I am determined to conquer the task ahead and raise as much money for the Farming Community Network, supporting farmers and their families and their mental health, as well as Cancer Research.

My training for the shearathon began last year with an intense exercise and nutrition plan which is going well and have had a few shearing years preparing myself mentally for the mammoth task ahead.

Now I need your help! I really hope you can sponsor my efforts and make this challenge all worth it... as well as harder by not wanting to let any of 'ewe' down.

There are two Just Giving pages - one for Farming Community Network and one for Cancer Research UK.

Thanks to any of you that can donate and please come along and 'shear me on'. Should be a great day (more details to follow) and the more support the better.

Wish me luck!

Michael
