Story
This year 2D Building Contractors will be participating in a 40-mile charity walk in aid of Stroke Association Wales. The event will take place over the weekend of the 26th/27th July 2024, starting at Mumbles, walking along the South Wales coastal path, then coming inland, finally reaching our end destination at Pontyclun. Along the route there will be numerous check points at Porthcawl and Llanharry, where participants and supporters will have the opportunity to join in depending on their ability and preference.
We are obviously doing this for such an amazing cause. In the UK, a stroke strikes every 5 minutes, with 100,000 people effected each year. The Stroke Association was actually formed in 1898, providing specialist support to help rebuild the lives of those affected by stroke through pioneering research and campaigning for the very best care. There are currently 70,000 people in Wales who are stroke survivors and I’m sure you all know someone who has been directly affected. When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt, through specialist support, research and campaigning that is only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.
Those of you wishing to show your support, can do so by donating on our just giving page. However little, will go a long way in the lives of those affected. Alternatively, why not show your support by getting involved on the day by joining the team at various points of the walk or celebrating with us all at the finish line. Please let us know if you would like to join the team and we can arrange where to meet you on the day.
Thank you for your support. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and create a better future.
