Story
🚴♀️ I’ll be cycling 300 miles along the South Coast of England from Dover to Plymouth in just 4 days from the 6th Sept— to raise £3,000 for pancreatic cancer research. Here's why:
My Grandma’s smile lit up my world. It never dimmed, not even in her final days. She was the warmest, most selfless person I’ve ever known.
🌱 In her last weeks, she planted the seeds for what is now the most beautiful vegetable garden.
🥟 She filled 2 freezers with handmade dumplings so we’d never get hungry.
🧸 She even mended my 40year-old teddy bear, stitch by stitch.
That was my grandma — always giving, always caring, pouring so much love into every detail of our lives, no matter how much pain she was in herself.
💔 In March last year, we were told she had stage 4 pancreatic cancer — nicknamed the “King of Cancer” as it’s the hardest to treat. That same morning, my mum left my brother and I to go to China to care for her. I missed months of school so I could be by her side.
🕊️ My grandma passed away this May. My mum later told me her last words: *“Jess has her Economics A-level tomorrow, don’t let her know until her exams are over”.* She knew I needed the grades for my Cambridge offer, and she put my future ahead of her own comfort.
💜 This is not just my family’s story – everyday 1,300 families hear the same devastating words: “It’s pancreatic cancer.” Like mine, they lose their loved ones far too soon — partly because the funding just isn’t there.
‼️ With a 3-month survival rate of less than 50%, and no dedicated chemotherapy drug — patients are still treated with drugs originally designed for breast cancer — it remains the deadliest cancer, killing over 1,300 people every day.
🙏 I couldn’t save my grandma, but with your donations, we can change the story for someone else’s family.
Thank you so much for helping me make a difference. 😊
