Story
On Sunday 4th May 2025, A group of us are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to support Breast Cancer Now and the incredible work they do.
About Us
We’re a team with varying levels of fitness but one shared goal: to raise as much as we can. Cancer is something that doesn’t discriminate—it’s a reality we’ve all faced. With 1 in 2 people affected by cancer at some point in their lives, this challenge is deeply personal for each and everyone of us. Sadly, we have all been touched by cancer.
Why Breast Cancer Now?
Jenny’s Story
Jenny: Wife, Mum, Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Niece, Friend.
June 2023 - It’s cancer.
The words no one wants to hear. At first, it didn’t seem real—until I heard “Aggressive", "Chemotherapy" and We’re going for curable.” That’s when it hit me—there was a chance it might not be.
Thanks to advances in medicine, my prognosis was positive—a stark contrast to what it might have been JUST 10 years ago.
Today, to many I am considered cancer free. I hope so.
But “cancer-free” isn’t quite accurate. For a period of years I will be considered medically as NED. No Evidence of Disease. This is very different.
For survivors, the threat of recurrence is very real. If reoccurrence happens it's considered secondary breast cancer, which is incurable.
This is why cancer research is so crucial. Each month in the UK, 1,000 people die from secondary breast cancer—that’s one every 45 minutes. Breast Cancer Now’s primary goal is to stop this. By understanding why breast cancer spreads and finding better treatments, they are working to give people with secondary breast cancer and their loved ones more time.
This research is life-changing. And it’s why we as a team are asking for your support. Together, we can make a difference.
