Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support

Wye Valley Mighty Hike 2023 - full marathon · 9 September 2023 ·

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

This year our sister was diagnosed with Grade 3, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, HER2 negative, ER positive, macromestasis, which is stimulated by oestrogen.

She has since had a mastectomy and a lymph node clearance - she is now 2 cycles in to 6 cycles of chemotherapy before starting radiotherapy.

We all know cancer sucks, and it is incredibly difficult watching someone you love go through this terrible illness. There is little we can do except show our support and fundraise where we can to help the wonderful team of Macmillan nurses who care for her.

I have seen first hand how Macmillan nurses make a difference to every part of my sisters journey. The advice and support they give her every step of the way and the knowledge that there is someone else fighting for her, being there for her in the small and big things is second to none.
