Raising money for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland and Crossroads NI

Story

For 30 years the Perennials Rugby Football Club has combined a love for the game of Rugby and the enduring friendships it creates with a desire to do good. Over the years we have raised nearly £500,000 for worthy causes. Our members come from far and wide, united by a desire to keep playing the game and enjoying the craic. We are all hugely appreciative of what the sport has given us and determined to keep making a positive contribution in our communities. The concepts that inspired the 5050 Challenge are quite simple. Firstly, the terrible statistic that we have a 50% chance of being diagnosed with some form of cancer during our lives. We must continue the fight to change those odds. Secondly, the idea that so many young people sacrifice so much of their time in caring for others - day after day after day. They are children that need support and the chance to simply have a break from the responsibilities they carry at such a young age.

In it's purest form the 5050 Challenge entails cycling 50 km for 50 consecutive days. In it's broader scope that can be 50km on any 50 days during the summer of 2020. But what we really want is for people to set themselves their own 5050 Challenge. Something personal that represents a stretching but achievable goal. It will require effort and commitment over this strangest of summers.

The charities we are supporting both do tremendous work. If you have a particular affinity with one of the charities then please give what you can to them. If you simply want to support us in a more general way then please donate to the charity with the lowest total on the home page.

If you are interested in participating then please email kirkandmartinez@gmail.com . Thank you for your support and your interest in our Challenge. Please spread the word and help the 5050Challenge make a huge difference in 2020.
