Story
Exercise, all movement, is one of the most important things anyone diagnosed with cancer can do to enhance wellbeing and improve health outcomes both during and after treatment.
It is recognised that there is more to be done to support underserved groups to engage in physical activity. The vision is for every single person impacted by cancer to be able to live an active and fulfilling life.
By supporting the MOVE Against Cancer Charity’s ‘Moving More Together’ campaign, we're helping to ensure every individual impacted by cancer receives the necessary resources and information to engage in and maintain an active lifestyle.
So who are we and what are we doing?
We are the 7pm Crew, a team of 8 (Dan, Elsa, Ben, Abbi, Alex, Adam, Chloe and James) and we will be battling it out over 24 hours to row (on a machine) the furthest distance against 5 other teams.
The fundraising event is taking place on the 29th and 30th August 2026 at our gym Panic in Melton Mowbray. Each team is raising for a different charity with an additional bonus cash prize for the winning team. We will each complete 20 minute sessions before completing a max rep set of a heavy bench press for additional meters (just to finish those arms off!). There will be one member of the team rowing at all times.
We feel that the 24 Hour row challenge is a great example of ‘Moving More Together’. We love to train, as a group and individually and understand first hand how this can boost your wellbeing, both physically and mentally.
Just for a fun reference with regards to how far we could be rowing during the challenge; 10,000 meters equals the full length of Windermere in the Lake District and 42,195 meters equivalent to rowing the length of Loch Ness.
The challenge is going to be tough, especially when we get to the night and early hours of the morning when the tiredness and sore muscles start. But, knowing that we are raising money and awareness for a great cause will help us push through.
We chose MOVE Against Cancer as we wanted to raise funds for a charity where every penny raised will go directly into supporting more people to be active when living with and beyond cancer.
So who are they?
