Helping the people of India with the devastating impact of COVID-19

Story

We have all seen the news reports regarding the worsening COVID situation in India. Some of us also have family and friends in India struggling with the virus. Many of us have wondered how we can help.

In response, BIJA is supporting the British Asian Trust’s (BAT) Emergency Appeal. BAT is a highly reputable charity that was founded by the Prince of Wales in 2007 and works through trusted local partners to tackle hardship in South Asia.

The BAT Oxygen for India Emergency Appeal will help to treat the hundreds of thousands of people suffering with COVID in India:

• £50 will provide oxygen for 40 patients struggling to breathe.

• £450 will fund a low-flow oxygen concentrator to help 900 patients with breathing difficulties.

• £830 will fund a high-flow oxygen concentrator to help 550 of the most seriously ill patients.

We know from our own experiences in the UK the devastation that Covid can bring. Together our communities can mobilise towards supporting people in India in the fight against COVID.

Our thoughts are with everyone in India at this difficult time.
